About Cheryl's Art Experience.

I started drawing as a child, did art education through  school, and studied Graphic Design at college. I have always maintained a love of drawing. I've experimented with various media, discovered that my favorite is (unsurprisingly!) a combination of several – watercolors, marker pens, fineliners, and colored pencils. I also enjoy pastels (chalk as well as oil), and I like (but don't love) acrylic and oil paints.

At one time I did ceramic arts, but found the difficulty in accessing materials a hindrance to continuing.

Regular sketching is a key artistic exercise that helps me maintain my creativity and abilities with multiple media (from pens to charcoal). I also try to do some digital sketching, but I find I am more comfortable with the more tactile, original materials than I am with a stylus.

Over time I have accumulated a vast portfolio of work and have done many commissioned works, sold art from my own collection, and had art published in various publications. I have never considered myself an accomplished artist, but one who is still seeking style and subject matter, exploring the potential of a range of ideas, and having too much fun to settle into a distinct art mode.

If you enjoy what you find on these pages, and have an interest in any of the pieces shown, please reach out and ask if it is available. Alternatively, if you are in the market for a specific artwork, I am open to unsolicited requests for commission as time allows.

In 2019, Birdhouse In the Birches, a chalk pastel and charcoal drawing, was published in Literary Heist art and lit magazine.
